Xtend Version B and Country or Regional Firmware

Can one change the firmware on a 9xtend from the U.S. version to an Australian version by simply changing the firmware?

In the past, one could simply change the firmware on the radio to get it to operate on different frequencies. This could create an inconsistency between the operating firmware not matching the label of the radio. Digi has added a regional check-sum, written to the module to govern what firmware can be installed on the module. That firmware controls the operating frequency or sub-band that the radio operates over and verifies what firmware can be installed.  As a result, you are no longer able to simply change the firmware on the module to change regions. By doing this, Digi assures regulatory compliance of the module for the specific country in which it is approved.
