PortServer boots up to "b1" on the display and hangs

Symptom:

PortServer hangs on boot, with "b1" on the display.

Cause:

  • The PortServer's bootfile and boothost parameters are set but one or both of them are incorrect.
  • The boothost or bootfile is not available to the PortServer.

Solutiond:

  • Verify that the IP address of the boothost and the filename of the bootfile are correct. To force the PortServer to ignore the boothost and bootfile entries, briefly press both arrow buttons simultaneously.
  • Verify that the boothost has tftp running, that the bootfile is viable PortServer firmware, and that it is in the correct directory. If you do not intend to upgrade the firmware, set the boothost IP address to 255.255.255.255.
