Failed to save configuration Digi One SP

While trying to configure a Digi One SP, at the stage where you've entered the IP/Subnet/Gateway information and upload it to the unit I get an error saying "Failed to save configuration"

The report says "Waiting for device... FAILED"

What could be the reason for this? I am directly plugged in to the unit, I find the unit in Digi Device Discovery and I can enter all the info.

Make sure your PC is on the same network subnet as what you are trying to assign to the Digi unit. Also, make sure other network interfaces are not active on the PC (i.e. WiFi).

As a workaround, you could use the Digi Device Discovery Utility instead to configure the IP settings, and then manually perform the rest of the configuration (for example, if you will be using the Digi RealPort driver, install that afterwards) separately.
